Mission
Our Mission
FND Research Alliance exists to advocate for a stronger, more coordinated research response to Functional Neurological Disorder. FND affects many lives, yet it remains under-recognized, under-studied, and too often misunderstood. Our mission is to advance better science, better care, and a more serious institutional response to this complex and disabling condition.
We believe that FND research needs larger, more collaborative studies with stronger sample sizes, better long-term data, and greater cooperation across hospitals, universities, and research institutions. No single clinic or isolated study can answer the most important questions alone. Progress will require shared effort, multi-center collaboration, and studies that reflect the full range of people living with FND.
We also hope to see more medical centers, academic institutions, and clinical programs become actively involved in diagnosing, treating, and studying FND. Patients deserve access to knowledgeable care, and clinicians deserve better tools, clearer evidence, and stronger institutional support. Expanding the number of places engaged in FND care and research is essential to improving outcomes and reducing the misunderstanding that many patients still face.
Ultimately, we advocate for research funding that matches the seriousness of FND. A condition that affects so many people and can cause profound disability deserves sustained scientific attention. Through advocating for and supporting research, FND Research Alliance aims to help build a future where FND is studied more thoroughly, treated with respect, and recognized as a major neurological health issue worthy of serious investment.
